Create the Sales Day Book report

You can use the Sales Day Book report to view the different sales transactions for each of your customers on one report. By default, the report shows a summary of each transaction including the transaction number, date, type, customer, invoice number, reference, details, and amounts. You can also change the report view to see the details of each transaction.

You can use the Sales Day Book report to view the different sales transactions for each of your customers on one report. The report shows an overview of each transaction including transaction type and amounts. You can view this for a specific date range for all transactions, or for different transaction types.

 

The report includes the following types of sales transactions:

  • Invoices
  • Credit notes
  • Quick entry invoices and credit notes
  • Opening balance invoices and credit notes

To run the report

  1. Open the Reporting menu.
  2. Select More.
  3. Click Sales Day Book.
    Note:

    To search for a specific customer, enter their name in the search box. You can also search by invoice, credit number, reference, or value (enter a negative amount for credit notes).

  4. From the Period drop-down menu, choose a time predefined time period or Custom if you want to enter your own date range in the To and From fields.
  5. (Optional) If you want to include only specific types of transactions on the report, click More and select the transaction type in the Type field.
    Note:

    If you use analysis types, for example groups, to run the report for a particular type or category, choose the relevant options.

  6. Note:

    To view details for A transaction, click the transaction to open that page. You can then click the Back button in your browser to return to the report.

    For All transactions, click Detailed. You can then click Summary if you want to return to the summary view.

  7. Click Calculate.
  8. To save or print the report, click Export and choose CSV or PDF.
    Note:

    The report automatically downloads. When it's ready a message appears on your menu bar. The amount of time the report takes to download depends on the amount of data in the report. You can continue working while the report downloads.

  9. After the report has downloaded, select it from the menu bar. Depending on how you chose to export your report, one of the following happens:
  • CSV. Depending on your browser, the file automatically downloads to your Downloads folder or you're prompted to save the file. Browse to where you want to save the file and Save.
  • PDF. The PDF opens in a new window or tab. Open your web browser File menu then choose to print or save the report.

You have successfully produced the Sales Day Book report.
