Bank feeds - Common error codes

You may see one of the following error messages when setting up your bank feed for the first time or when you need to re-enter your credentials.

If the error code isn’t listed, please follow this general troubleshooting article.

Do not disconnect the bank feed as you will lose your bank rules and may miss some transactions.

General troubleshooting

  1. Check the status of your bank feed. This tells you whether there any current issues with connecting to your bank.
  2. Check that the credentials you’re using to connect the bank feed are correct.
    • Log in to your online banking service to confirm that your password and security information is correct.
    • Make sure that you enter the same details when setting up your bank feed or re-entering your credentials.
  3. Check for changes to terms or conditions or outstanding messages in your online bank account. These can prevent us connecting to your account.
    • Log in to your online banking service to check and confirm outstanding items or messages.
  4. Check that the details you entered when setting up your bank feed are now correct.

Error code 401

Reasons

Your request could not complete due to request time out.

Solution

Please try again later.

Error code 402

Reasons

The service can't access your bank account as it doesn’t recognise your password or security information.

Solution

  1. Your browser may be blocking the request.
    1. Set your browser to allow cookies from other websites.

    2. Link to your online bank account again.
  2. Check that the information entered when setting up the bank feed is correct
    1. Are you linking to the correct bank account?
    2. Have you entered the correct information when setting up bank feeds?
  3. Check that your online bank credentials are correct.
    • Log in to your online banking service to confirm that your password and security information is correct.
    • Make sure that you’ve entered the same information when setting up your bank feed.
  4. If your bank requires multi-factor authentication (your bank sends your code via email or text), try again and make you enter the requested additional security information.

Error code 403

Reasons

This relates to an incompatibility between your online bank and the Bank feed service. It can also happen if there are temporary issues, such as the website pages being very slow.

Solution
  1. Your browser may be blocking the request.

Error code 406

Reason

Your online banking password or security information has expired, or your bank has updated its terms and conditions and you have to accept them before you can access your bank account.

Solution
  1. Check that your online bank credentials are correct.
    1. Log in to your online banking service to confirm that your password and security information is correct.
    2. Make sure that you’ve entered the same information when setting up your bank feed.
  2. Check for changes to terms or conditions or outstanding messages in your online bank account. These can prevent us connecting to your account.

  3. Check that the details you have entered into the bank feeds setup are now correct.

Error code 407

Reason
  • Your online banking service provider may be doing some website maintenance.
  • Your online bank account is locked.
Solution
  • Log in to your online banking website to confirm it’s available.
  • If your account is locked, please contact your bank and follow their procedures for unlocking your account, then retry the bank feed.

Error code 408

Reason

The request was not complete as there were no accounts found to update at the site.

Solution

Please visit the site and log in to confirm your account has been set up, and try again.

Error code 409

Reason

Represents that a site has reported that their service is temporarily unavailable.

Solution

Please try again later.

Error code 412

Reason

Your online bank has reported that their service is temporarily unavailable.

Solution

Please try again later

Error code 414

Reason

The request was not complete as there were no accounts found to update at the site.

Solution

• Please visit the site and log in to confirm your account has been set up, and try again.

Error code 415

Reason

Your request cannot be completed due to technical difficulties at the site. The bank feed through Yodlee is unable to connect to your bank account. There can be a number of reasons for this, but is generally temporary and resolved in a few days.

Solution

We recommend you try again the following day, but you can choose to refresh your feed sooner.

Error code 416

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as another session was already established at the same time

This occurs when your online bank account thinks that you're already logged in.

Note:

Some online banking service providers may not consider you properly logged off if you have just closed the website browser.

Solution
  1. Log in to your online bank account and then make sure you log out completely.
  2. Log out from Accounting, then log back in and retry your bank feed.

Error code 421

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as the language setting for your account is not English.

Solution

We don't can't connect to online banks that are not in the same language as your product. Websites that are in a foreign language are not currently supported.

Error code 422

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as your account has been closed or cancelled.

This error only appears when your online banking service provides a message to say that your account has been closed or cancelled.

We can’t retrieve statement information and transactions from a closed bank account.

Solution
  • Check if your account is closed, log in to your online banking service and check you’re able to access your account.
  • If your account is not closed, contact Sage support. Please visit the support hubsupport hub for the available contact options.

Error code 424

Reason

We cannot connect your bank account as information for your account is not available. There can be a number of reasons for this, but is generally temporary and resolved in a few days.

Solution

We recommend you try again the next working day.

Error code 426

Reason

The request cannot be completed due to technical difficulties.

We cannot connect to your bank account. There may be a number of reasons for this, but it is generally temporary and resolved in a few days.

Solution

We recommend you try again the next working day.

Error code 428

Reason

Your request could not complete as you are required to accept new terms and conditions.

Solution

Accept the new terms and conditions in your online bank account.

Error code 429

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as the site requires you to verify your personal information.

Some banks require you to maintain up to date personal information and passwords for security purposes.

Solution
  1. Log in to your online banking service and check your details are up to date or need to be updated.
  2. Re-try the bank feed.

Error code 430

Reason

Due to Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) your bank feed is no longer supported. Read more

Solution

Please check the status of your bank for the relevant guidance. sage.com/openbanking

Error code 481

Reason

Your request cannot be completed due to security reasons.

Your bank may limit the number of unsuccessful log in attempts in one day. We cannot connect to you account, if a number of unsuccessful attempts have been made to connect to your bank in a 24 hour period.

Solution
  1. Log in to your online banking service to confirm that you have access and your password and security information is correct
  2. Check you’ve entered the same password and security information in Accounting.
  3. Try to connect again the following day.

Error code 505

Reason

Your request can’t be completed as the security system used by the site is not supported.

Solution

You should check that your bank or credit card account is available via this service.

Error code 507

Reason

Your request can’t be completed due to the problem in updating the beta account.

When setting up a connection with a new bank, it is tested thoroughly by Yodlee. We can't connect to accounts during this time.

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as the required security information could not be retrieved within the given time.

Error code 522

Reason

Your request cannot be completed due to request time out.

Reason

Your request cannot be completed due to incorrect additional security information.

Error code 801

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as the account has never been updated.

Please try refreshing and try again.

Error code 802

Reason

Your request cannot be completed as the refresh has not been done even after the credentials of this item was updated.
